The Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival is a not-for-profit organization registered with the state of New Hampshire and is a 501(c)(3) under the umbrella of The Country Dance and Song Society, Inc.
Our mission is “the preservation and promotion of traditional folk song and music with particular emphasis on that of a maritime nature, to present programs of such music for the education and enjoyment of the general public.”
We are committee-run, led by a five-member volunteer board.
Our festival hiring policy is as follows: We do not hire vendors, comedians, clowns, craftspeople. We do not hire people who are not dedicated to this music; please study the website to see if this includes you. We are not in a financial position to cover large musical groups, or long-distance travel. You do not need a studio recording, but we need to vet you somehow.
If you are a solo artist, duet or trio, and you are actively involved in maritime folk music, please send an introductory letter and any pertinent links (YouTubes, webpages, sound clips) to the board. Do not send large files (mp3s, mpgs, etc), just send links. Send to: info(at)pmffest(dot)org
